Member Spotlight Focuses on Mark O'Brien

Based in Mt. Vernon, New York, Staging Techniques is a national production services company with a proud 50-year history that includes hundreds of projects in theater, film, video, concerts and special events. With facilities in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Seattle, Staging Techniques travels nationally and internationally and provides equipment and skilled personnel in projection, video and video facilities, audio, lighting and lighting design, scenic construction and production management.

For almost two decades, Mark O’Brien enjoyed a successful career as a Master of Illusion – Magician and television producer. His company operated from 1984 to 2001 and provided top quality illusion acts, full-scale shows, consultation and design for both popular and corporate entertainment. Mr. O’Brien’s works have encompassed the following industries: casinos, cruise lines, theme parks, television shows, movies, trade and corporate shows, theaters, special events, marketing programs and advertising campaigns nationally and internationally. Mark O’Brien Productions, Florida worked for some of the most prestigious in the United States such as the Walt Disney World Company, Warner Brothers, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Nickelodeon Studios, Universal Studios, CBS Television Productions, Lintas Advertising, Hershey Park, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Televisa, Univision, Turner Entertainment, Hewlett Packard, Madison Square Garden and Wawa. For many of his corporate clients, O’Brien wrote original scripts showcasing the company’s products or marketing objectives and his company provided the entire show package including staging, lighting, sound, technical crew, talent and special effects.

In 2001, Mark joined AVW-TELAV (Now Freeman Av) as a Sales Manager/Producer where he became the second highest salesperson in the Orlando branch in the first six months on the job and was commend for his superior customer service and creative abilities. In 2005, Mark was hired as the Assistant Director of Safety and Training for Swisher International headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida where he was responsible for Safety and Training for 1200 employees. In addition to supervising the General Safety Program and OSHA compliance required training, Mark conducted DiSC and DDI training for department heads and supervisors as well as customer service training for the telemarketing department
In 2014, Mark returned to his hometown of Summit, New Jersey and was the operations manager for SAV at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park before joining Staging Techniques.

In 2017 Mark became a member of ILEA NY Metro and currently serves on the membership committee.  Mark is a graduate from Northwestern University’s School of Communications with a Bachelors of Science degree where he majored in Radio, Television and Film.
